The Quran Challenge
The Quran is the most eloquent speech in the Arabic language. The Arabs at that time of the Prophet were known with the Arabic language so the Quran revealed as a Challenge for them.
Many of the Arabs said that the Quran is magic because of how miraculous the Quran was.
The Quran has its own category in language, it is not poetry or normal speech.
It has a challenge for anyone to imitate something like it.
“And if you are in doubt about what We have revealed to Our servant, then produce a chapter like it and call your helpers other than Allah, if what you say is true”
Imitate means to take the model of the Quran as an example and simulate it to bring/produce something like it
The Quran is eloquent speech that has knowledge of the future, moral teachings, historical information etc...
- For instance, the Quran introduces new words into the Arabic language but the Arabs at the time of the Prophet didn't know about them before but they still understand them.
- The Quran introduces new usages (Expressions) for previous words that existed.
So a word the already existed in the language, it had meaning but the Quran introduces a new usage for it.
- The Quran introduced new grammatical structures into the language.
- The Quran Introduced new combination of words into the language.
To make it simple, it is like me speaking to you in English but with complete new grammatical structure, with new words that you never heard before but you still understand it , i will be using previous words that you know its meaning but in a new way. I will use combination of words in new way you never encounter but you still understand it.
Each chapter of the Quran has a new words, new usage of previous words etc..
Moreover, the Quran follows a unique structure discovered recently called the Ring composition.
Watch it!
Moreover, the Quran is perfectly preserved and it has been easy to memorize. It is memorized by Millions of Muslims from beginning to end. You will never see this with any religious text in the world.
“And We have certainly made the Quran easy to remember” (Quran 54:40)
When someone listen to the Quran even if he/she is not arab, they will feel it's a divine speech.
Also, the Quran has no contradictions
“Then do they not reflect upon the Qurān? If it had been from [any] other than Allāh, they would have found within it much contradiction” (Quran 4:82)
Let's end with interesting verse in the Quran
“˹It is˺ the Day people will be like scattered moths”
Allah here gives an example that the human beings will be resurrected on the day of judgement and it will be like butterflies when they come out/birth out.
When we look at the life cycle of butterfly: We have a caterpillar -> Chrysalis -> Butterfly
What happens between the caterpillar and the Butterfly?
We have a caterpillar that forms a chrysalis around itself.
Inside, it releases enzymes that break down much of its larval body, causing it to partially disintegrate, while a few specialized cells remain.
Yet, the organism continues its transformation, eventually emerging as something beautiful and able to fly.
So, it emerges after much of its larval body has been broken down by self-directed enzymes, while a few specialized cell groups remain and reorganize the organism.
The Quran uses that description of a human being. Because that same exact thing happen with humans.
We will go to the grave, the body releases enzymes that are self digesting but it does not digest everything, it leaves the coccyx of the human.
The Coccyx has the DNA of the human being. When the Human being is born there is a primitive streak and it comes eminence and then, become the Coccyx so, it has our DNA.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ mentioned that 1400+ years ago
