The Message Of Islam
Muslim is the one who submit his will to the One true God.
“worship God alone and never associate any partners (idols, saints, prophets etc.) with him in worship” and to believe in “All The Messengers God sent”.
The Core Message of Islam is Tawheed (Pure Monotheism)
- There are 3 categories of association in Islam:
- Associating others with God in Lordship such as praying to anyone other than Allah (e.g., idols, saints, or prophets).
- Associating others with God in worship such as believing that someone other than Allah (God) has control over the universe.
- Associating in Attributes such as attributing God's unique qualities to His creation (e.g., claiming a human or object has divine powers).
All the Prophets came with the same Message
Islam began from Adam. All the Prophets their religion was Islam. They submitted to God alone.
They brought the same core message, but that their laws differed according to the time, place, and people they were sent to. For instance, the law of Moses was the Torah for the Israelites.
Muslim linguistically means the one who submits his/her will to the one true God.
All the Prophets were Muslims. They never preached any message such as trinity, their message was always one and never changed from Prophet to Prophet
“Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one/alone! ” (Deuteronomy 6:4)
Examples from the Quran:
"We never sent a messenger before you ˹O Prophet˺ without revealing to him: “There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Me, so worship Me ˹alone˺.”
"... Or were you witnesses when death approached Jacob, when he said to his sons, "What will you worship after me?" They said, "We will worship your God and the God of your fathers, Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac - one God. And we are Muslims [in submission] to Him.”
"Indeed, We sent Noah to his people. He said, “O my people! Worship Allah—you have no other god except Him. I truly fear for you the torment of a tremendous Day”
"And We gave Moses the Scripture and made it a guide for the Children of Israel, ˹stating:˺ “Do not take besides Me any other Trustee of Affairs”
".. The Messiah ˹himself˺ said, “O Children of Israel! Worship Allah—my Lord and your Lord.” Whoever associates others with Allah ˹in worship˺ will surely be forbidden Paradise by Allah. Their home will be the Fire. And the wrongdoers will have no helpers.”
"When Jesus sensed disbelief from his people, he asked, “Who will stand up with me for Allah?” The disciples replied, “We will stand up for Allah. We believe in Allah, so bear witness that we are Muslims [submitting to Him]”
The Prophets and the Sriptures:
We beleive in all the Prophets and the scriptures that God sent. Allah revealed the Psalms to Prophet David, Torah to Moses, Gospel to Jesus. and the Quran to Prophet Muhammed.
Moses and Jesus were sent only to the children of Israel. Then, Prophet Muhammed was sent to all the mankind as the final Messenger to preserve the message of the previous Messengers after they were changed.
In the following verse, Allah said the people of the Torah (Who were living at the time of Moses) should judge by it
"Indeed, We revealed the Torah, containing guidance and light, by which the prophets, who submitted themselves to Allah, made judgments for Jews. So too did the rabbis and scholars judge according to Allah’s Book, with which they were entrusted and of which they were made keepers. So do not fear the people; fear Me! Nor trade my revelations for a fleeting gain. And those who do not judge by what Allah has revealed are ˹truly˺ the disbelievers.”
Then, Allah sent for children of Israel another Messenger and Prophet (Jesus) and he gave him the Gospel so, the people of the Gospel (Who were living at the time of Jesus) should judge by it. And ofc they should believe in Jesus and in the previous messengers as well
"Then in the footsteps of the prophets, We sent Jesus, son of Mary, confirming the Torah revealed before him. And We gave him the Gospel containing guidance and light and confirming what was revealed in the Torah—a guide and a lesson to the God-fearing. So let the people of the Gospel judge by what Allah has revealed in it. And those who do not judge by what Allah has revealed are ˹truly˺ the rebellious.”
Then, Allah revealed this book (Quran) to the Prophet Muhammad as the final revelation. It confirmed the previous scriptures and a supreme authority on them. So all the People now should judge by the Quran and follow the Prophet Muhammad. Also, they must believe in the previous Messengeer and revelations because they were true and sent by God
"We have revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ this Book with the truth, as a confirmation of previous Scriptures and a supreme authority on them. So judge between them by what Allah has revealed, and do not follow their desires over the truth that has come to you.”
The idea of Original sin:
In Islam there is no the concept of original sin. Adam and Eve did commit a sin, but they repented, and God simply forgave them.
Their mistake is not inherited by their descendants.
No soul burdened with sin will bear the burden of another. ”
Allah is just. People are not born guilty, they become accountable only once they reach moral maturity and knowingly choose right or wrong.
