The Orbital Motion
At the time of the Prophet (1400+ years ago), the understanding of both European Christians and the Middle Eastern was that the Earth is the center of the universe.
This was based on the ancient Greek cosmology standardized by Aristotle and Ptolemy
Moreover, people used to believe that the Sun does not rotate only untill the early 1600s, immediately after the telescope's invention.
The Quran corrects them.
“ And it is He who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; all [heavenly bodies] in an orbit are swimming. "
The Quran here told us that the heavenly bodies (Sun, Moon and the Earth) are all floating/rotating in their orbits. The Arabic word used in the verse "يَسْبَحُونَ" means "rotating"
“ It is not for the sun to catch up with the moon, nor does the night outrun the day. Each is travelling in an orbit of their own. "
Allah told us in this verse that the Moon and the Sun are keeping their order, not coming out of their orbits. Then, Allah talks about Night and Day not transgressing, when it is time for night, its night and when its time for day, its day.
So Allah is talking about the Sun, Moon, Earth and time. Finally, Allah said each of them are floating/swimming in their own orbit
That was only discovered recently by modern science.
