Suicide and Mental Problems
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: By Him, in Whose hand is my life, the world would not come to an end until a person would pass by a grave, would roll over it and express the desire that he should be in the place of the occupant of that grave not because of religious reasons but because of this calamity.
Despite today’s technological progress and increased comfort, anxiety and suicide rates are higher than ever affecting both celebrities and everyday people. It has a become a new normal, and the Prophet ﷺ said that before the last hour people will wish to die because of weird trials in the world, which accurately matches with today's society, with people taking anti-depressant drugs.
It should be kept in mind that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ classified suicide as forbidden and a major sin in Islam.
“And do not kill ˹each other or˺ yourselves. Surely Allah is ever Merciful to you” (Quran 4:29)
